Mine would be a simple 3" small EDC blade with a full flat grind for slicing open mail, and packages. I love my 3" and since it's easier to carry I tend to carry it more than my 3.5"esp since I work in an office environment full of sheep. It seems like most of the custom slicers go to the bigger XM-18 and the little guys get the short end of the stick.
What's your Dream Hinderer Knife?

I'm torn between the XM-18 3.5 and the XM-24, but for EDC I'd have to say a XM-18 3.5" custom spear point with the slight recurve blade (like the one in the Hinderer Forum header), two tone lock liner with the darker gray sandblasted low spots and hand rubbed bright flat areas, matching bright pocket clip & filler, and maybe a textured carbon fiber scale. I didn't care for the textured carbon fiber scale when I first got it on my XM-18, but it's really grown on me.

I've been dreaming (and trying to talk Rick into doing one) of a XM-18 with a "Rescue" blade. I realize I could buy the Gerber model, but I want the XM-18 frame and build. Probably a non flipper in either 3" blade length.

XM-18 3.5" all titanium with the hellfire grind. It would also have to have the two tone colors that the all titanium XM-24s had!
I don't honestly have enough knives yet....Posted 1 year ago # -

Oh Yes He has!!! , He is sitting right next to that 8lbs of Copper in the shop !!! hahahahahah Amber Stag baby !!!!!!!!!!

Why is everyone into recurves all of a sudden? I like easer to sharpen things...but I just got a Spyderco Sharpmaker with the extra diamond and extra fine rods so I won't mess up anymore knives on my recalcitrant old school japanese whetstones that I only use on a few japanese blades I have. What about a Damascas or Damasteel stainless demascas slicer XM-18 that would be easy to sharpen and very cool.

XM-24
- deep swedge dagger w/ an asymmetric, double-spanto tip in the new Working finish
- CF Textured, CF Smooth & Ti scales (also in the Working finish and bronze anodizing)
- a bit of filework - maybe egg and dart - on lock side in Working finish and bronze anodizing
- contrasting anodized clip and filler as well as all the screws (British Racing Green, dark blue or purple)
- HINDERER HERD #101 engraved on the lock side, maybe right along the lock bar

Not having to hope that my card is picked to get it!

HINT, HINT, HINT, Rob
- I really want one of the new XM-24's in S35VN - standard production, spanto, flipper with black G-10 scales. Stone wash blade and lock side. I never took to carbon fiber or all ti scales and don't deen a fancy grind as the spanto is an epic blade design IMHO. Oh yeah, if it has colored scales, I'd like the blue/black and an anodized blue clip and filler plug. I think they look classy as all get out! Edit - can't forget the ti lanyard bead for that big boy either.

My dream Hinderer knife? I don't own one yet so any Hinderer XM knife will be great. I have no clue if there is a left-handed Hinderer knife out there. That would really be my dream Hinderer knife - a Left-Handed XM Hinderer Knife!

Get an FXM :)

Mike,
What is the waiting period for a left handed Hinderer? Is it 5 years or more? I might as well ask so I'll start saving my pennies.

Well unfortunately Remo, I think the qouted time is "someday".
Posted 1 year ago # -
Right now, I am hardcore wantin' an FXM. I've been huntin' a good boot knife for a while, and the FXM would be a perfect fit for what I'm wantin'.
After that...I can start gettin' creative. Honestly, though...the XM-18 3.5" is darn near perfect as is, in my opinion. I do REALLY like those knives for the Zurich SWAT team. (Do U.S. Law Enforcement credentials transfer to Switzerland? :-p) Back in the day, I would have been all of the serrations on that blade, but since acquiring an XM-18 of my own, I am less enamored with them, since those blades are the sharpest I've seen!!
A "black-out" XM-18 or XM-24 would be on my "Dream List". I work at night, so I try and avoid anything that shines...but until we go to a subdued or stitched badge (which ain't happenin' anytime soon), I'll be shiney enough without a stainless knife drawing any unwanted attention to my person. I'd still like one, though! ;-)

So...I had some time to drive around in the car and think. I was thinking about how cool the Zurich Admin was for hookin' their boys up with a Hinderer blade...and a custom one to boot! I was thinking that an XM-18 or XM-24, "blacked out", but with the blue/black G10s would be pretty slick.
Maybe if I ever find myself wearing brass, I'll contact Rick and Rob to place and order. ;-)

I guess right now it would be a
Kingdom Armory edition T.A.D. Hinderer Dauntless. So if you hear of one available, please PM me.
Posted 11 months ago # -
For me it would be a lime green 3 inch slicer. And a Ti. handled 3 incher with Q-ball anodizing.
Posted 11 months ago # -
This one!
http://www.rickhindererknives.com/wp-content/hinderer-gallery/rick-hinderer-customs/sk3.jpg
But I doubt I will ever find one so a simple XM18 3 inch with brown Titanium lockbar will do just as fine (truth be told, any XM18 and I will be happy
